Primary One – Primary Seven | UNEB Curriculum

From Primary One through Primary Seven, pupils follow Uganda's National Curriculum (UNEB), moving from the Thematic Curriculum in the lower years into full subject-based learning that prepares them for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). Alongside strong academics, pupils take part in sports, clubs and leadership activities that build well-rounded, confident young people.

LOWER PRIMARY — THEMATIC CURRICULUM (AGES 6–9)

Primary One (P1)

Ages 6 – 7
Builds early reading, writing and number skills through the Thematic Curriculum, learning across real-life themes rather than isolated subjects.

Primary Two (P2)

Ages 7 – 8
Strengthens reading fluency and number confidence, with continued thematic, hands-on learning across all subject areas.

Primary Three (P3)

Ages 8 – 9
Consolidates literacy and numeracy, easing the transition toward full subject-based learning in Upper Primary.

UPPER PRIMARY — UNEB CURRICULUM (AGES 9–13)

Primary Four (P4)

Ages 9 – 10
Introduces the full UNEB subjects — Mathematics, English, Science and Social Studies.

Primary Five (P5)

Ages 10 – 11
Deepens subject knowledge and builds independent study habits and critical thinking.

Primary Six (P6)

Ages 11 – 12
Sharpens exam techniques across all subjects as pupils begin structured PLE preparation.

Primary Seven (P7)

Ages 12 – 13
The final PLE preparation year, with revision, mock examinations and focused subject support.

Co-Curricular Activities & Clubs

Sports, music, clubs and leadership activities that run alongside academics, all through Primary.

Sports & Athletics

Football, netball, athletics and inter-house competitions build teamwork and healthy habits.

Music, Dance & Drama

Choir, traditional dance and drama club give pupils a creative outlet and stage confidence.

Debate & Leadership Club

Public speaking, debate and the pupils' council develop confident, articulate young leaders.
